History

The earliest traces of rose quartz are found in the commercial exchanges of the historical region of Mesopotamia. Throughout history and across civilizations, rose quartz has been widely used. Its transparency ranges from translucent to opaque, and this gemstone often appears fissured and cloudy in its center. During antiquity, the Romans mainly imported rose quartz from Sri Lanka. Today, the leading producer of rose quartz is Brazil. In 1950, the "Madona Rosa" was discovered there, a sublime smoky quartz surrounded by rose quartz, 40cm high. Rose quartz is also very present in Madagascar. On this soil, rose quartz sometimes has the particularity of displaying asterisms (whitish lines in the shape of a six-pointed star). This rose quartz, specific to Madagascar, rare and sought after, is called "Star Rose Quartz". There are also other deposits in India, South Africa, or Mexico.
