HISTORY AND LEGENDS OF THE SUNSTONE :
History:
Discovered in 1790, it was the mineralogist Jean-Claude Delamétherie who gave this beautiful stone the name "Pierre de Soleil" or Heliolite stone.
The name was given in reference to the star because it is a luminous stone that symbolises life force and warmth. The name of the stone also refers to its orange colour and its unique sparkle. It is the only mineral stone that contains copper crystals. Today, Sunstone is used in jewellery, for decorative purposes or as a rolled stone to be placed at home to spread its benefits.
Deposits and formation:
Sunstone is found in different colour variations ranging from orange to brown. Natural sunstone is recognisable by its copper flakes that sparkle in the light. Its orange appearance is sometimes iridescent with blue or green. It is mainly extracted from deposits in Canada, Russia, the United States, India and Norway.
Legends and beliefs:
According to one legend, it was the blood of a valiant warrior, wounded by an arrow, that gave the colour and all the sacred energy benefits to Sunstone.
In Ancient Greece, Sunstone was considered an orange quartz with multicoloured reflections. Widely used in magic rituals, it was associated with the cult of Helios, the god of the Sun. Those who owned it wished to attract luck, fortune and vitality.
According to the Danish archaeologist Thorkild Ramskoi, the Sunstone was used by the Vikings as an alternative to the compass to find their way around the sea.
It was not until the Renaissance that Heliolite was associated with the sun for its radiant orange colours. The stone was then used set with gold to attract the energy of the Sun.

SUNSTONE: HOW TO ADOPT IT AND TAKE CARE OF IT.
Which Sunstone to choose?
Generally speaking, it is the stone that chooses us and not the other way around! It is up to us to determine which one we like best, it depends on our tastes and above all on our intuition! Its colour gives it value. The lighter the Sunstone and the more white it is, the less valuable it is. Conversely, the more it tends towards red, passing through pink, orange and peach shades, the more valuable it will be.
Astrological correspondences :
The astrological signs Leo, Scorpio and Aries would have the most affinity with Sunstone. Nevertheless, lithotherapy is in charge of provoking sensations and feelings: it is therefore up to each person to choose their stone without worrying too much about astrological correspondences.

To discharge and purify it, pass it under a stream of running or distilled water and slightly salted. To avoid consuming water, you can also leave it in a natural container such as porcelain or glass, overnight. To recharge your Sunstone, take advantage of bright sunlight for at least two hours or the light of the full moon for a whole night. The more the stone is exposed, the more energy it recharges.
